George Allan Moore was born February 11, 1947, in Sabetha to Max R. and Lucille K. (McCrerey) Moore. Following an illness, George passed away Monday, May 25, 2026 at the age of 79 at Mosaic LTACH Unit, where he was so well cared for, with his wife by his side, as she would always be, as well as his son Nathan and family, surrounded with love.
George grew up on a dairy farm on the NW corner of Highland. He enjoyed tending to the farm and working with livestock while growing up. He graduated from Highland High School in the class of 1965. He married Geraldine Simpson in December of 1966. This union brought two sons.
George continued farming most of his adult life and was a steward of the land. Later in life, George found his next calling on the open road. He enjoyed many trips across the U.S., hauling varied cargo around the country, and was proud of driving over a million miles. George enjoyed seeing the country and the experience of traveling while working.
George loved all things mechanical, from airplanes, toy trains, tractors, and cars. He obtained his Private Pilot’s Certificate in the early 1980s. He loved flying and taking others on airplane rides. George’s last flight was this February for his last birthday, with his son as the pilot. He always loved being in the air.
George met Wanda Adkins in 2004, and after 10 years together, they were married in Vegas. The two made a home on the farm where he grew up that was dear to him. They shared a love that many never find. They just celebrated 21 years together, 11 as husband and wife. Wanda was a positive light in his life, taking care of him and helping him through his health journey, a labor of love they both enjoyed.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Lucille Moore. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Moore, of the home; son Bradley Moore and Michael Pate of Wellington New Zealand; son Nathan Moore and wife Michelle of Montezuma; grandchildren Sarah Millershaski and husband Gage of Ingalls, KS, Megan Raab and husband Stephen of Bel Aire, KS, Max Moore and wife Mary of Kansas City, KS, and Sam Moore of Montezuma, KS; stepson Adam Johnson, wife Jill, and granddaughter Bella and grandson Kaden of Highland; and stepdaughter Lacy Adkins and son Ricky of Elwood.
