Lawrence "Larry" G. Vessar, 83, of Salina, KS, formally of Effingham, Kansas, passed away June 7, 2026, in Wichita, Kansas.
Graveside services will be held 2:00PM, Friday, June 12, 2026, at St. Joseph Memorial Park, in St. Joseph, MO, with Rev. Russ Cooper officiating the service. Memorials are suggested to St. Judes. Condolences may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com
Larry was born July 10, 1942, in Atchison, Kansas, the son of Claude and Ruthann (Hundley) Vessar. He attended Atchison Co. grade school and Atchison High School, later attending Highland College and Missouri Western State college. He was a Navy (Medic) Veteran, serving his country from 1960-1963. Larry married Marlene Kaye Moody on Oct. 20, 1962, and she preceded his on March 21, 2007. He was a member of American Legion and Masonic Order.
He is survived by his two sons; Greg (Melissa) Vessar, Yokosuka, Japan, Brian (Wendy Moore), Salina, KS, granddaughter's; Callie Vessar and Kylie Moore, brothers; Roger Vessar, Ronald "Ronnie" (Claire) Vessar, Robert "Bob" (Dana) Vessar, sisters; Joyce (Les) Crossland, Susan (David) Nieman, Tammy (Mike) Brown, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Gib & Ruthann, wife Kaye, brother Terry David Vessar, sisters and brothers-in-law; Carol (Jack) Cannon and Martha (Aaron) Card.
