Richard Lee Lanter, 86 of Topeka, Kansas, formally of Horton Kansas passed away Monday, August 10th, 2026.
Richard “Dick” Lanter was born on December 18th, 1939, in Horton, Kansas the son of Bruce Thomas and Grace "Arline" (Dodge) Lanter. He was baptized at the Everest Christian Church in 1951. He graduated from Everest High School in 1957. He enjoyed playing basketball in high school, was a 4-H member and showed cattle.
On August 8th, 1964, he married Donna Soyland at the Everest Christian Church, and they made their home in rural Huron and later purchased the Anthony Ranch. Dick was a farmer and a stockman. He loved working on the land and buying and selling cattle all over the country. He was a Rainbow Communications board member for 25 years and a Huron volunteer fire fighter.
He is survived by his wife, Donna of 62 years. His children, daughter, Jean (John) Haines of Lenexa, Kansas, son, Rodney (Robin) Lanter of Falls City, Nebraska, daughter, Diane Dempster of La Jolla, California, daughter-in-law, Diana Lanter of Everest, Kansas and son, Duane (Deanna) Lanter of Lancaster, Kansas, sister, Ruthie Smith of Everest, Kansas, 16 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 4 great- great grandchildren.
Proceeded in death by his parents, Bruce & Arline Lanter, two sons, Rick D. Lanter and Thomas Bruce Lanter, sister Helen Coffelt, four brothers Robert, Donald, Lloyd and Roy Lanter and a grandson, Scott Lanter.
Services will be held at Dishon Maple Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas on Friday, August 14th with visitation from 10-11 am, services to follow at 11 am with burial at the Horton Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Everest Christian Church or Midland Hospice House and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
