William Richard “Bill” Bredemeier, 66, of rural Seneca, Kansas, passed away at his home on August 13, 2026.
Bill was born on March 23, 1960, in Pawnee City, Nebraska, to William Bredemeier and Betty Moser Aberle. He attended school in Sabetha, Kansas, through the eighth grade and later attended Nemaha Valley High School in Seneca, graduating with the Class of 1978.
Shortly after graduation, Bill married his high school sweetheart, Jody Dalinghaus, on June 24, 1978. Together they built a life centered around family, hard work, cattle, sports, faith, and more than a few adventures along the way.
Bill had a lifelong love of cattle and was happiest when there were cattle to tend. Early in their marriage, Bill and Jodi moved their family to Missouri, where he worked at Sun Up Farms Angus Ranch. It was there that Bill began building a small herd of his own and further developed a passion for the cattle business that would remain with him throughout his life. In 1984, the family returned to Seneca, where Bill went to work for Blair Feeds. In 2014, Bill began working at Valley View Milling, where he remained until August 2025, when health concerns led him to retire.
As his sons grew older and became involved in sports, Bill found another passion. What began with coaching eventually led him to umpiring baseball and softball throughout the Tri-State area for more than 20 years. To Bill, “Every field is a field of dreams,” and he treated it that way. He also officiated football and some basketball over the years. When he wasn’t on the field himself, Bill could often be found behind the microphone. He spent many years announcing Nemaha Valley Raiders football and basketball games, lending his voice and enthusiasm to the teams and community he enjoyed so much.
Bill was also active in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, where he served as a lector and Communion minister. His faith and his church community were important parts of his life.
Family was at the center of much of what Bill did; he was involved in 4-H alongside his family and served as a leader of the HHHH Club. Bill was especially proud of the traveling he and his family were able to do together. He visited all 50 states as well as a couple of countries, creating countless memories along the way. Part of the adventure for Bill was always trying the local food wherever their travels took them. Of all the things that brought Bill pride and happiness, nothing compared to his family. He took tremendous joy in watching his two grandsons grow up and celebrating their accomplishments. He never needed to be the center of attention; he was perfectly content standing back, watching them, and beaming with love and pride. That pride grew once again with the birth of his great-granddaughter, Briar. Becoming a great-grandfather brought Bill tremendous happiness and gave him one more little person to love, watch grow, and undoubtedly brag about.
Bill is survived by his wife Jodi of the home, his sons Jason (Mandy) Bredemeier of Falls City, Nebraska, Joey (Tricia) Bredemeier of Kansas City, Kansas, grandsons Kade (Madi) Bredemeier and Carson Bredemeier, and great granddaughter Briar Bredemeier; sisters, Ginny (Mike) Skoch of Olathe, Patty Ehrsam of Seneca, Lisa (Brett) Ohlsen of Seneca, Jonna (Tim) Johnson of St. Croix Island, brothers Louis Aberle of Sabetha, Kevin Caskey of Glenpool, Oklahoma, and several nieces and nephews.
Rosaries will be on Sunday, August 16, 2026 at 2 & 7 P.M. at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM Monday, August 17, 2026 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials can be given in Bill’s memory are to be American Legion Ball and Sts. Peter and Paul SChool, and sent in care of the family.
