Anthony “Tony” Lee Wenger was born October 27, 1951, in Horton, Kansas, to Delbert Lee Wenger and Verna Lorraine (Ohlsen) Wenger.  He died unexpectedly at his home near Bern August 13, 2026 where he made his home over the last 15 years. 

Tony worked for Union Pacific Railroad, Falls City Auto, and John Deere before joining Chicago Rawhide, later SKF Seals, in Seneca, Kansas, where he valued the friendships he made. He worked in equipment maintenance and retired in 2018.

Tony was a fiercely independent man who preferred doing things his own way. He loved Corvettes and Harley-Davidson motorcycles and made several trips to Sturgis, South Dakota. In his younger years, he enjoyed skiing and earned a black belt in karate. He also enjoyed fishing.

Despite health challenges, Tony remained determined to maintain his independence. He took great pride in the Rat Rod pickup he completed this summer and in being able to participate in the recent Seneca Cruise Night.

Tony will be remembered for his independent spirit, resilience, determination, and his love of cars, motorcycles, fishing, and adventure.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert Lee Wenger and Verna Lorraine Wenger, and his sister-in-law, Ronda Lee Wenger.

He is survived by his brother, Scott (Lynnette) Wenger of Rossville, Kansas; nephews, Travis (Sheila) Wenger of Maysville, Missouri, and Jacob (Toni) Wenger of Topeka, Kansas; niece, Lauren Breiner of Topeka, Kansas; and great-niece and nephews, Zayne Wenger, Noah Breiner, Lilly Wenger, Levi Breiner, and Troy Wenger.

A private graveside service for family and friends will take place at Powhattan Cemetery.

Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha is assisting the family with arrangements.
