Peggy Ann Montgomery, 79, of Atchison, KS died on Tuesday, Aug. 11th, 2026, at KU Medical Center, surrounded by family.
A Celebration of Life services will be held at 11:00 am on Sat. Sept. 5th, 2026, at the First Christian Church with Rev. William Mitchell officiating. Private family internment of her cremated remains will be at a later time in the Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00AM at the First Christian Church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Christian Church, the Atchison Humane Society or the Atchison Childcare and may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home who is handling the services. Peggy was born on Jan. 21st, 1947, in Atchison, KS the daughter of Raymond and Patricia (Hofacre) Montgomery. She graduated from Atchison High School in 1965. Peggy worked at Lincoln Grain for years. She owned and operated the Golden Touch Tanning Salon, Atchison’s first tanning salon, for five years. Her favorite place of employment was working at Benedictine College as their Athletic Secretary. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Atchison. Peggy was an extraordinary cook and baker. She loved to play bridge, any card games, and loved to watch the Royals play. Her true love was spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids who referred to her as Nana. She always enjoyed watching them participate in sports. Peggy also loved their dog, Sandy, that she adopted from Humane Society.
She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 60 years Gary S. Wohlgemuth. She and Gary have two daughters, Tammy Jackson and friend Marcus Kelly, and Kim (Chris) Taylor, both of Atchison, KS, Six Grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Her siblings are Raymond (Rebecca) Montgomery, Robert (Mary Jane) Montgomery, and Elizabeth Montgomery (dog Bella). She was preceded in death by her parents.
