Colby Acheson, 30, of Centralia, passed away unexpectedly August 22, 2026, at his home.
Colby was born in Atchison, KS , February 27, 1996, the son of Julie Acheson. He grew up in Effingham where he attended schools, graduating from ACCHS with the class 2014. Colby participated in all sports in junior high school. In high school he participated in basketball. He worked at the sale barn at Atchison, Northwest Pipe Plant along with helping Jackson farmers in Effingham throw hay/straw.
On October 11, 2025, he married Abby Manning at Centralia Community Church. They made their home in Centralia where he worked R Family Trucking prior for Countryside Feed in Seneca . He loved driving trucks! Colby always knew he wanted to drive as he started helping his grandparents with their truck line at age 13. He enjoyed lawnmower and tractor pulls and did some dirt track racing a couple years. He was never too busy to help family and friends.
He was VP of Heartland Tractor Pullers and Effingham Community 4H Club.
Survivors include his wife Abby of the home; his mother Julie Acheson, step-father Mike Lee of Nortonville, his father Jerry Boyle of Effingham, grand-parents Raymond & Ruth Acheson of Effingham, siblings: Airyan Boyle, Darwyn Boyle, and Robyn Stirton (Ben). Also surviving are his aunts and uncles: John & Erika Acheson, Jeannie & Shawn Hedrick, Jackie & Dewaye Bowen; also surviving are several cousins, nieces, nephews, great-aunts and uncles. His mother-in-law Mary Manning of Morrill also survives
His fur babies also survive: Cope, Diesel, Charlie, Duke, and Scout.
He was preceded in death by Great-Grand-parents Darwyn & Eileen Acheson, Lawrence & Lillian Falk, unborn infant, and his father in law Tom Manning,
A Celebration of Colby’s life is planned 11 a.m. Saturday, August 29, at the Atchison County Fairgrounds, 419 William St, Effingham. Jeff Cochran will officiate. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery, Effingham.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Colby Acheson Memorial Fund left in care of the funeral home, 124 S 7th St, Hiawatha 66434.
Friends may call at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha after 10 a.m. Friday where friends will meet with family from 6-8 that evening.
