Keith “Kip” Daire Carlin, 76, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born on March 25, 1950, in Sterling, Colorado. He attended school in McCook, Nebraska and graduated from McCook High School. He continued his education at ITT Technical Institute in Omaha, Nebraska where he received his associate’s degree in architectural engineering. After graduating, Kip returned to western Nebraska to serve as Deputy Sheriff for Lincoln County in North Platte, Nebraska for a few years. He moved back to Omaha and worked in the engineering division for Fruehauf Corporation. While working in Omaha, Kip met and fell in love with the love of his life, Peggy J. Davis. The couple were united in marriage on May 12, 1990, in Omaha and moved to Humboldt, Nebraska in 1999 where they have resided together since.
Kip was a talented craftsman and good with his hands. He enjoyed woodworking, making and selling wood carvings, fishing, breaking horses, and working on “projects” with his brother Herb and son Keith. Kip actually restored a 1917 Model T out of the “junk” he had at the house. He was member of the Humboldt Lions Club where he served the club as president.
Kip passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at the Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of seventy-six years and five months. He is preceded in death by his mother Eva Mae (Helt) Bass and stepfather Vernon Bass.
Kip is survived by his loving wife Peggy Carlin of Humboldt, NE; son Keith C. Carlin and wife Michelle of Humboldt, NE; daughter Nedra Graham and husband Mike of Green Bay, WI; grandchildren: Carissa (Tom) Haffner, Alissa Rosenecker and fiancé Jackson Weber, Dillon Rosenecker, Rhianna (Keegan) Doubeck, Jaden Hiera and girlfriend Jerney Harvey, great-grandsons Liam Doubeck and Weston Hiera, brother Herb Carlin of Humboldt, NE; brother-in-law Bruce Davis and wife Phyllis of Johnson, NE; nephews: Brett Davis and wife Tracy of Johnson, NE; Lance Davis of Lincoln, NE; Grant Davis and wife Chelsea of Lincoln, NE; and many other relatives and friends.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the Christian Church in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Howard Blecha officiating. Family requests casual attire for those able to attend. Inurnment will immediately follow services at the Humboldt Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at the Wherry Mortuary, 207 N. Nemaha Street in Humboldt, Nebraska.
