Mona Lisa Viola Meade, 62, of Centralia, Kansas, passed away peacefully at her home on September 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Mona was born on February 2, 1964, in Marysville, Kansas, to Don and Leta Schilling. She graduated from Baileyville High School in 1982. In June of 1982, she married the love of her life, William Meade, and together they built a life centered around family, hard work, and love.
Mona was a hardworking wife, mother, and grandmother. She held many jobs throughout her life before earning her nursing degree in 1999. She was proud of her career in nursing and continued working as a nurse until her cancer diagnosis.
Lisa, as she was lovingly known by many, will be remembered most for her fierce love of her family. She was feisty, strong-willed, determined, and never afraid to stand up for what she believed in. She had strong beliefs, a strong personality, and a heart that loved deeply. Her family was her greatest pride, and the memories she created with them will be treasured forever.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, William Meade of Centralia; her children, Brandi Meade of Centralia, Scott (Kaitlin) Meade of Centralia, and Samantha (Darren) Watkins of Centralia; her grandchildren, Justin, Hope, Bentley and Beau Watkins and Kameron Meade; and many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, William Scott Meade, who passed away on May 13, 2019; her sisters, Sandy Dowd and Terri Meade; her brother, Randy Feltner; and her parents, Don and Leta Schilling.
A visitation will be held at the Lauer Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 8th from 5-7PM. Her Funeral Services will be held at the Centralia Community Church, East at 10:30AM on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. Burial will be in the Centralia Cemetery.
Mona’s life was one of hard work, determination, and above all, love for her family. Though she is no longer here, her fierce spirit, her love, and the memories she leaves behind will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Memorials will be designated later.
