Richard “Ric” Lee Bomberger, age 64, of Effingham, KS, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Mosaic Life Care surrounded by his wife and children.
Graveside Services will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 10:30 am at Cummings Cemetery. A meal and celebration of his life will follow at the Effingham Blue Building beginning at 12:00 Noon. Ric wanted this time to be a celebration, please wear comfortable clothing, including his favorite color orange. Memorials may be left to assist the family with services in care of the funeral home. Cremation care has been provided by the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.
Richard was born on July 29, 1962, in Atchison, KS, the son of Delbert Bomberger and Evelyn (Robinson) Bomberger. He is a graduate of Atchison High School. He spent his life working at numerous places, mostly in the maintenance departments. He was an all-around handy man and jack of all trades. He enjoyed woodworking and even owned a store creating, fixing and selling those beautiful pieces. He never met a stranger and loved the customers he was able to work with and happiness his pieces provided them. Richard most recently worked for the maintenance department at Sac & Fox Casino until his retirement. He enjoyed gold prospecting during his years in Arizona, fishing and hunting and creating yard art out of metal. Ric’s favorite times were spent with his family, especially his siblings during their meals that they shared for special occasions. He will be greatly missed by his family and loving dogs, Bella and Rosie.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Bomberger, who he married on October 5, 2010; his children, Kenny (Megan) Besette, Ashley (Dave) Bomberger, Trent (Terri) Bomberger; step-daughter, Debi (Steve) Leonard; nine grandchildren and his five siblings, Bernice Ball, Donna Grippin, Brenda Dryden, Patsy (Leonard) Stirton and Diane (Mike) Besinger.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother Larry Bomberger.
