Gwen G. Kuckelman, 58, of Lawrence, passed away peacefully at her home on October 19, 2026, surrounded by love. Born on April 23, 1968, in Seneca, Gwen was the daughter of Frank and Janice Wempe Kuckelman. She grew up in the close-knit Seneca community, attending Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School before graduating from Nemaha Valley High School in 1986. Gwen’s creative spirit led her to Emporia State University and later to the University of Kansas, where she earned her degree in graphic design—an accomplishment she cherished.
After college, Gwen’s talent and determination carried her to St. Louis, Missouri, where she spent ten years with the Osbourn and Barr firm. Her passion for design and her independent nature eventually inspired her to start her own company, Callahan Creative, LLC. Gwen poured her heart into her work until her health made it impossible to continue.
When she was diagnosed with breast cancer, Gwen returned to Lawrence for treatment at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and to be near her brother Rick, whose support meant the world to her. Throughout her illness, Gwen faced each challenge with quiet strength, grace, and an unwavering sense of hope.
Gwen was happiest outdoors. She loved returning to her parents’ farm to hunt, fish, and simply breathe in the beauty of the land she grew up on. Nature was her sanctuary, and she cared deeply about preserving it for future generations. Whether she was walking through timber, sitting beside a pond, or watching the sun settle over the fields, Gwen found peace in the world around her.
She is survived by the love of her life, Todd Wilson of Lawrence; her parents, Frank and Janice Kuckelman of Seneca; her brothers, Dr. Rick Kuckelman of Lawrence, John Kuckelman of Overland Park, and Joe (Debbie) Kuckelman of Lenexa; and several nieces and nephews whom she adored and who brought her endless joy.
A rosary will be prayed at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 26, 2026, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m., with burial in the church cemetery.
Memorials for Gwen will be designated at a later date and sent in care of the family.
