Daniel Michael Childress, 19, of Centralia, Kansas, passed away on October 24, 2026, following a courageous battle with brain cancer.
Daniel was born on October 18, 2007, in Lawrence, KS, to Michael and Kathy (White) Childress. In Kansas, he spent his early childhood in Nortonville until early 2014, when his family moved to Sublette. In late 2017, the family relocated to Centralia, where Daniel continued to grow, build friendships, and make lasting memories.
Daniel was a young man full of life, laughter, and big dreams. With his outgoing personality, quick wit, and unforgettable sense of humor, he had a special way of bringing laughter to any room. Whether he was cracking jokes with his friends, giving his brother Dalton or sister Kimberly a hard time, or making his family laugh, Daniel always knew how to put a smile on someone’s face.
Daniel graduated from Nemaha Central High School in 2026, where he was an outstanding football player and wrestler. His love of sports, competitive spirit, and determination were evident both on and off the field and mat. Following graduation, Daniel enrolled at Washburn Tech in the Industrial Machinery Maintenance and Technology program. He planned to become a machinist, pursuing a career that would allow him to indulge his adventurous spirit and travel the world while doing something he truly enjoyed.
Daniel loved spending time with his friends, whether gaming, watching UFC fights, playing cards, or simply hanging out and sharing laughs. He enjoyed trips to the lake, family vacations, and sharing a special appreciation for fine dining with his dad. Family and friends were at the heart of Daniel’s life. His playful teasing, quick comebacks, and good-natured battles with his brother were just some of the many ways he showed his love. He had a gift for finding humor in everyday moments and making life a little brighter for everyone around him.
Throughout his battle with brain cancer, Daniel showed extraordinary courage and strength. He faced challenges that no young person should ever have to endure, yet he never complained. His strength was remarkable, his courage inspiring, and his spirit unwavering. Even during his most difficult days, Daniel never lost the sense of humor that made him so special. He continued making those around him smile and laugh right up until the very end.
Though Daniel’s journey on earth has ended, his strength, his laughter, and his unforgettable spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
