Daniel Connaroe Morey, 74, Robinson, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2026 at Mosaic Life in St. Joseph, MO. He was born on June 26, 1952, to Don and Juanita (Joslin) Morey in Hiawatha, KS.
Dan graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1970 before continuing his education at Wichita Technical Institute. Dan was a proud member of the Iowa Tribe of Kansas & Nebraska. He was a hardworking man who spent much of his life working with his hands. His career included working as an automobile mechanic at Chevy Garage, followed by positions at Herzog, Wilde Tools, W.A.S.P., Casino White Cloud, and NEK-CAP, Inc.
Dan was outspoken and never one to hold back what was on his mind. He told it like it was, said what he thought, and often finished sharing his opinion with his familiar words, "But that's just my two cents." Those who knew him knew he had his own way of looking at things and wasn't afraid to let you know it.
Dan was a man who appreciated the thrill of life and the freedom that came with it. Whether it was the roar of engines at a drag race, the open road on his motorcycle, tinkering in his garage, designing and creating, or spending time with family, Daniel had hobbies and interests that reflected his love for excitement and adventure. He carried a lifetime of memories, experiences, and stories, and his journey was uniquely his own. Above all, he leaves behind a family that will carry his memory forward.
In 1995, Dan married Sandy Kay, and together they shared many years of marriage.
Dan is survived by his beloved wife, Sandy Kay; his children, Christopher Morey (Kristy), Lindsey Rogers (Wyatt), Cherish McCarty and Robert McCarty; his grandchildren, Ethan, Avery (Abi), Elijah, Grace (Ryan), Luna, Garrett, Cyrus, and Gentry; his sister, Connie Hoffman(Dave); and his brother, Guy Morey (Jody); and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Juanita Morey, and his beloved daughter, Rachel, whom he welcomed into the world but never had the chance to raise.
Dan lived life his own way, worked hard, spoke his mind, and enjoyed the things that made him happy. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories, stories, and a family who will carry his memory in their hearts. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Dan's Life will be held at The Alley in Hiawatha, Kansas, on November 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., followed by fellowship with family and friends. Everyone is welcome to come together to share memories, stories, and celebrate the life Dan lived.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Brown County Humane Society in Dan's memory.
