Hiawatha Middle School's flight and space class competed in a Nasa TechRise Challenge to design and build an experiment to test on a high altitude balloon. The winning team pictured below entered a design to use a thermal camera and multiple temperature sensors to test and monitor temperatures in multiple layers of the atmosphere. The students earned $1500 to build their design and it will go up on a Raven Aerostar high altitude balloon in the spring of 2023. Congratulations team!
