Congratulations to Ben Kneisler who won 2nd place in the Washburn School of Business competition with his "Hoop Houses" for chickens! Ben presented in front of a panel of 5 judges, business owners and Washburn alumni on Tuesday night. He was presented with a large check representing the $6,000 he won for 2nd place! The money will go toward buying more chicks and feed. Doing the math, Ben figured he can buy 3,750 chicks this year with the money.
"I might buy another mobile range coop (hoop house for chickens) instead," Kneisler speculated. "We'll see. I could also use it to apply for an agricultural loan."
Apparently, the possibilities are endless.
Stephanie Moran from GoTopeka has invited Ben to come to an entrepreneurship class in November designed to hone his business presentation skills and develop his plan even more. There is another competition in November that Ben can enter using the same presentation he gave at Washburn. Business owners from around the state will be there for that competition and even more money is on the line.
