Pony Express Barn & Museum Invites You to Visit in 2026

Ten to fifteen miles. That’s how far one Pony Express horse would run before the rider switched to a fresh one.
It wasn’t one horse carrying the mail coast to coast. It was a relay of tough, fast mounts, swapped out in minutes while the rider grabbed the next horse and kept the mochila moving.
If you want to understand the Pony Express, start where the horses were changed. Fast mail meant fresh horses, and Marysville was one of the stops that made that possible. The stone barn downtown was leased as a Pony Express livery stable in 1860, and it still stands.
Start at the Pony Express Barn & Museum, then follow the Pony Express audio tour and hear the story tied to the places you can still see today. Call 785-879-4093 and use stops #300-#318 for the Pony Express.
