Uncovering Earth's Missing Chapters — Exploring the Gaps in Geologic Time!
The 7th-grade science class has been learning about unconformities—gaps in the geologic rock record that represent missing time when rock layers were either eroded or never formed. These “missing chapters” in Earth’s history separate older rock layers below from younger layers above. Students explored and created examples of three types of unconformities: nonconformity, disconformity, and angular unconformity.
