County Government Day
Doniphan West High School students recently participated in the annual County Government Day at the Doniphan County Courthouse. During this event, students met with several county officials, toured various offices, and learned about the important roles each department plays in serving our community.
Students also had the opportunity to take part in a hands-on mock trial. Brooklyn Denton served as the judge, while Kamryn McCauley and Belle Smith acted as defense attorneys, and Catherine Davis played the role of a witness.
After enjoying lunch provided by Troy Christian Church, students continued their day by meeting with representatives from the KBI, state troopers, and the local Sheriff’s Department. They explored patrol vehicles, participated in interactive activities—including the use of impairment goggles—and gained valuable insight into real-world topics such as drug awareness, human trafficking, and the many responsibilities of law enforcement across Kansas.
Thank you to everyone who helps make this meaningful event possible each year for the students in our district and county!
