Marjorie A. Roush, 83, of Topeka, died on Tuesday, June 24, 2014.

Marjorie was born on November 8, 1930 to Charles and Roxie (Lawrence) Allen in Salem, NE. She was raised in Salem, NE and Morrill, KS and attended Lone Star Country School of Nebraska. She graduated in 1948 from Morrill High School. Marjorie was married to Vernon C. Roush on September 12, 1948 at the First Baptist Church in Morrill, KS; they were later divorced. Marjorie worked as a hands on care worker for the Kansas Neurological Institute for 21 years and retired in 1996. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Morrill, KS. Marjorie was an avid gardener and loved to arrange flowers. She enjoyed sewing and reading as well as word challenges, which included her favorite game, Scrabble.

Marjorie is survived by three daughters, Roxane Robinson, Kay (David) Howerton, and Mary Jo Roush, all of Topeka; one brother, James (Darlene) Allen of Albion, NE; four grandchildren, Kristin McGrath, Jay Howerton, Lisa Coen, and Michael Robinson and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Vernon C. Roush; by her parents; one sister, Marie Geach and two brothers, Tom Allen and Charles Allen.

Marjorie’s wishes were to be cremated, and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 5th at 11 a.m. at the Penwell-Gable Southwest Chapel located at 3700 SW Wanamaker Road in Topeka.  The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment will take place at a later date at Steele Cemetery in Falls City, Nebraska.
