Raymond“Fred” Schober Jr., age 62, of Topeka passed away Monday, June 30, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Fred was born December 11, 1951 in Seneca, KS the son of Raymond Fred Schober Sr. and Daisy Willard Schober. He graduated from Centralia High School in 1969. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. He married Joyce Heinen August 3, 1974 in Corning. Fred worked in Lawrence for Lincare. Fred was a member of the Vermillion VFW Post and the Knights of Columbus in Meriden. He was an active Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader for over 15 years.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce of over 39 years; two sons, Nicholas (Erin) Schober of Olathe and Neil (Dara) Schober of Topeka; two daughters, Melanie (Clint) Mentzer of Topeka and Janelle (Greg) Wessel of Topeka; two brothers, Steve Schober of Newton, Iowa and Brad Schober of Centralia and 8 grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will beThursday, July 3, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mother Teresa Catholic Church. He will lie in state Wednesday at the church from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 p.m. with visitation to follow, all at the church. Interment will be at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scouts or Mother Teresa Catholic Church and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at davidsonfuneral.com.
