Terry Marshall, 66, died at his home in Geneva Nebraska, July 7, 2014 following a lengthy battle with cancer. A memorial service celebrating his life will be 11:00AM on Saturday July 12th, at the United Methodist Church in Geneva, Nebraska. Burial will be at the Bohemian National Cemetery in Humboldt, Nebraska. Those wishing to do so may send memorial contributions to Relay for Life: Cancer Victims and Families in Fillmore County.

Terry was born in Omaha, Nebraska, February 22, 1948, and raised in Humboldt, the son of Bob and Amy (Holechek) Marshall. Following graduation from Humboldt High School in 1966, he attended Peru State College, graduating in 1970 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Education. He married Maureen Stutheit on January 17, 1969 and they had three sons, Brad, Andrew, and Kenton. They moveto Hastings where Terry was a teacher in middle school for six years. He then served as Emergency Preparedness Manager (EPM) for 25 years in Adams County/Hastings and 5 years in Fillmore County. On March 23rd, 1991 Terry married Carol (Chrise). Together they were CASA volunteers advocating for neglected children. Terry also was a member of the American Legion and served in the Air Force. 

Terry will be especially remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor. He was passionate about community safety, storm tracking, photography, and collecting and refinishing antiques. He was proud of his Czech heritage and loved cooking in the Bohemian tradition. He was a true patriot and took a great deal of civic pride, contributing hours of training and service to the safety of central Nebraska. During his years of service to the community Terry received multiple awards and certificates for his achievement and contributions. Terry, known during all his years of service in Adams County as “1401” is responding to his last call.

He is survived by his wife Carol of Geneva, sons Brad (Angie) and Kenton both of Lincoln; step children Doug Chrise and Debi (James) Noyes of Geneva, and John Chrise of Washington; sisters, Becky (Rudi) Marshall of Topeka, Kansas and Penny (Gary) Chura of Olathe, Kansas; grandchildren Hayley and Landon; step grandchildren Brooke (Craig) Brown, Ciarra (Matt) Burton and Logan Chrise; step great-grandchildren, Bailee, Addy, Corbyn, and Alyvia Brown; Jayda, Jarin, and Kash Burton; nieces Amanda and Leah Chura; great niece Lydia Gilstrap; loyal dog Zoey and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Andrew Marshall.
