Floyd Richard Lacey, 87, of Holton, KS passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Holton Community Hospital. He was born March 4, 1927 in Salisbury, MO the son of Floyd Elmer and Anna Louise (Hale) Lacey.

Floyd graduated from Clay Center High School and was drafted directly into the United States Army during World War II. After the war, he attended Diesel Mechanical School in Chicago. Floyd worked in flour mills for several years and later worked 26 years for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company as a maintenance mechanic in Topeka. Floyd was also a farmer and stockman, working mostly with cattle and horses.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #44 and V.F.W. Post #1367 both in Holton.

Floyd married Ellen Arlette Knapp on October 16, 1954 in Abilene, KS. Survivors include his wife, Ellen Lacey of the home; son, Floyd E. Lacey (Donna) of Topeka, KS; 3 daughters, Anita L. Lacey of Tulsa, OK, Cheryl L. Hill (Rex) of Circleville, KS and Barbara J. Schneider (Tim) of Hillsboro, KS; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, James Edward Lacey (Roberta) of Herrington, KS. Floyd was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia I. Moore and a nephew, Jack E. Wixom.

Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Private family interment will be in Holton Cemetery.
