Jerry Logsdon, 65, Valley Falls, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at his home in Valley Falls.
He was born July 7, 1949, at Holton, the son of Dale and Ruth Fay Sutton Logsdon. He graduated from Valley Falls High School in 1967. He later graduated from the North East Kansas Vocational Technical School LPN program at Atchison. He served four years in the US Navy during the Vietnam War, first aboard the USS Paricutin, and later on the USS Enterprise Aircraft Carrier.
Jerry worked as a LPN at F.W. Huston Medical Center in Winchester. He was a volunteer EMT and Assistant Fire Chief for Jefferson County District 11.  He had worked at Steinmetz Service in Valley Falls.
He married Nadine Duby, on March 26, 2004, at Oskaloosa. She died Nov. 11, 2008. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Ruth Logsdon.
Even though Jerry did not have any children of his own, he was very involved in the care and raising of nine children, who loved him very much. They are Joanna Haraldson, Springfield, MO; Tony Trower and Angie Heuertz, both of Valley Falls, Becky Brown, Meriden, Rae Rice, Easton, Heather Johnson, Topeka, Sarah Moore, San Diego, CA, and Doran Hobbs, Topeka. Survivors include two sisters, Dianne Heinen, and Joyce Brown, both of Valley Falls.
The Memorial Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014, at the Jefferson County Fire Station, 204 Louisa, Valley Falls. Inurnment will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls.
