Leigh Ann Blevins Twombly, 49, of Highland, died Thursday evening, July 24, 2014, at Hiawatha Community Hospital.

Leigh Ann was born in Hiawatha, Kan., May 24, 1965, the 2nd of 4 daughters of Jerry and Victoria (Drake) Blevins. She graduated from Highland High School as part of the class of 1983. After graduating high school, Leigh attended Highland Community College before attending Crums School of Cosmetology in Manhattan, Kan.

After graduating from Crums, Leigh started working with Elma McKay at The Village Beauty Shop, then joined Rosie Holder at Hair Fanatics where she later became the owner. Leigh has touched so many lives and offered so many kind words through her work. She's cared greatly for many always going above and beyond to support others - even playing chauffeur for ladies who needed helping get to and from her shop.

Leigh married Scott Twombly on June 6, 1986 at the Highland Christian Church. Leigh was a wonderful wife and mother to her children: Seth Andrew, Cameron Scott, Luke Michael,
and Scotti Ann. She passed on her love of life to each of her children in the way she sang, danced, and acted silly. Also celebrating Leigh's life are her sisters: Kelly Twombly (John Paul), Tracey Nicodemus (David), and Stephanie Peterson (Matthew), her parents:  Jerry Blevins, Vicki Blevins; numerous nieces and nephews. She taught us how to show Christ's love by always finding the good in people and that it's okay to laugh at ourselves-- which is one of the greatest things you can teach someone. Leigh is also survived by her paternal grandmother Lillie Marie Blevins.

Leigh was a lifetime member at Highland Christian Church where she led worship Sunday mornings, at after school Bible Club on Wednesdays, and Vacation Bible School.
A Celebration of Leigh’s life is planned for 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 28, at the Highland Christian Church with Mark Twombly officiating, assisted by J.B. Skaggs.  Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery.
Friends may call at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Highland after 10 a.m. Sunday where the family will meet from 3 until 5 that afternoon.

Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to the Leigh Ann Twombly Scholarship Fund which may be sent in care of the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, P.O. Box 33, Highland 66035. A special message may be sent to the family at www.chapeloaksfuneralhome.com.
