HOLTON- Maxine J. Curran, 86, of Holton, passed away Friday, August 1, 2014 at Plaza West Care Home in Topeka.

She was born June 3, 1928, at home, south of Bucks Grove, the daughter of Merle E. and Bessie (Franklin) Huss. She attended Holton and Circleville Schools. On April 27, 1946 Maxine married William R. Curran in Hiawatha. He preceded her in death on February 22, 1985. She was a homemaker, worked as a cook at Coach House in Holton and was a door greeter at Wal-Mart in Holton for 10 years.

Maxine is survived by: her children, Connie Renfro (Dale) of Onaga, KS, Mike Curran (Geneva) of Holton, KS, Martha Dreitzler (Donald) of Topeka, KS, Cindy Degand (Jimmy) of Mayetta, KS, Teresa Curran of Holton, KS, Tracy Curran of Holton, KS and Karen Beightel (Gordon) of Holton, KS; her brother-in-law, John Curran of Holton, KS; and her 19 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Charlene J. Curran and her brother, Merle E. “Bud” Huss.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Interment will follow in Holton Cemetery.
