James H. Eisenbarth, 86, of Holton, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Jackson County Medicalodges.

He was born September 22, 1927 in Kelly, Kansas the son of Lawrence M. and Viola P. (Clark) Eisenbarth. He graduated from Corning High School in 1945. He had lived in Wetmore and Nemaha County most of his life and the last ten years in Holton. James proudly served his country with the United States Army in 1946-1947. On January 15, 1949 he married Blanche E. Love in Wetmore. She preceded him in death on January 10, 2014.

He was a fine carpenter for most of his life and worked in partnership with his son, Chuck, at Eisenbarth Construction for over 20 years. He also was a partner in E&R Construction in Wetmore and worked for Whelans Lumber in Topeka. James was a member of American Legion Post #282 in Wetmore and served on City Council and as City Clerk. He was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Holton and Knights of Columbus.

James is survived by: his sons, Charles “Chuck” Eisenbarth (Becky) of Holton, KS and Ed Eisenbarth (Susie) of Circleville, KS; his brother, Harold “Mike” Eisenbarth (Virginia), (who Jim raised as his son) of Topeka, KS; 6 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his 5 brothers, his grandson Brian Eisenbarth in 1982 and his great-granddaughter Katheryn Eisenbarth in 1990.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at St. Dominic Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Wetmore Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Monday, August 4, 2014 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton with visitation to follow. Memorials are suggested to St. Dominic Catholic Church, St. James Catholic Church or Wetmore American Legion Post #282 and may be left in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton 66436.
