Judith " Judy" Hann

Judith L. “Judy” Hann, 74, of Holton, KS passed away August 22, 2014 at The Pines in Holton. She was born August 6, 1940 in Kansas City, MO the daughter of Albert F. and Ruth Alline (Trevett) Hann.

Judy graduated from Holton High School in 1958 and attended the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL, where she affiliated with Delta Zeta Sorority. She graduated from Clarks School of Business in Topeka.  Judy worked for Holton Transport, Inc. for 33 years and owned and operated Details, Inc. (a dress and jewelry shop) for almost 10 years. She later worked as manager for United Petroleum Transport for one year.

Judy was a member of Evangel United Methodist Church, past President of The Pilot Club of Holton and past Convention Chairman of Kansas and Missouri Pilot Clubs. She attended conventions in Atlantic City, New Jersey and San Francisco, CA. She was past President of the All Star Club and a member of Eastern Star and had received her 50 year pin. Judy was a Girl Scout Leader, a Red Cross swim teacher, a member of Heart of Jackson Human Society,  Holton Hospital Auxiliary and Notloh Card Club for over 35 years.

Judy gave private swimming lessons for 10 years; she started teaching when she was in 7th grade. She gave private baton lessons and was the first student of Holton High School to twirl a fire baton. She also gave private piano lessons in Topeka on an electric key board. After retirement, Judy enjoyed helping decorate wedding cakes with flowers and greenery at expressions Gifts and Flowers.       

She was preceded in death by her father, Al Hann in 1989; her mother, Alline Hann in 2004, a brother, Carl Hann in 1998 and her goddaughter, Kadi Branam in 1997.

Judy is survived by: her close friend of 50 years, Rogette Branam (Jay) of Holton; her godchildren, Lesley Harris (Dan), JJ Swindale (Kevin) and Brett Branam all of Holton; her great-godchildren, Morgan Thompson (Jarrod), Caitlyn Cashier, Blake Harris, Scott Cashier, Garrett Harris, Tyler Harris,  her great-great-goddaughter, Anberlyn Thompson and several cousins.

A Memorial Service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Inurnment will be in the Holton Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Heart of Jackson Humane Society c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
