Marcella Rose Ryan, 77, Valley Falls, died unexpectedly Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, at her home.  
She was born August 25, 1937, at Scipio, to John and Mary Hoefler Lickteig.  She was a graduate of Hayden High School, Topeka, and was employed at a bank in Topeka prior to her marriage. She became a homemaker and helped her husband farm at Valley Falls for many years. She was an employee of Valley Health Care in Valley Falls for 11 years.  In 1986 she became an innkeeper along with her husband at the family’s bed and breakfast inn, The Barn, at Valley Falls.
She married Thomas J. Ryan Jr. Oct. 12, 1963, at Topeka. He survives of the home. Other survivors include three daughters, Mary Ryan, Juneau, Alaska, Catherine Pusich and her husband, Dave, Juneau, Alaska, and Patricia Miller and her husband, Mike, Meriden; one son, Thomas J. Ryan III and his wife, Gina, Valley Falls; six grandchildren; a brother, Wayne Lickteig and his wife, Dorothy, Corpus Christi, TX; three nephews and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Geri Ha. Cremation is planned and a Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept 13, 2014, at The Barn Bed and Breakfast Inn, 14910 Bluemound Road, Valley Falls.  The visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
