Lawrence Gene O’Neill, 86, Winchester, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at the F.W. Huston Senior Living Center in Winchester.
He was born March 27, 1928, at Winchester, the son of Frank Edwin and Lura Alberta Hensleigh O’Neill. He graduated from Winchester High School and Kansas State Agricultural College. He served in the USAF during WW II.
Gene was a farmer-stockman and was a Rural Mail Carrier for many years in Winchester. He had served as President of the Winchester Board of Education and was an active member of the Winchester Senior Citizens. He was a member of the Winchester Reformed Presbyterian Church.
He married Dorothy Mae Thompson Dec. 31, 1951, at Winchester. She died Oct. 6, 2012. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, John and Howard O’Neill, a grandson, Nathan O’Neill, and a daughter-in-law, Susan O’Neill.
Survivors include four sons, Robert O’Neill, Houston, TX, Jay (Cindy) O’Neill and Gail (Sheila) O’Neill, all of Winchester, and Daryl O’Neill, McKinney, TX, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
The Memorial Service will be at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at the Reformed Presbyterian Church in Winchester. Inurnment will be at the Winchester  Reformed Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:30 until the time of the service.
