Rodney J. Waser, 74, of Hiawatha, Kansas passed away on September 26, 2014.

He was born on March 14, 1940 in Fairbury, Nebraska to Bud and Irene (Roop) Waser. Rod spent his childhood in Washington, Kansas and graduated from Washington High School in 1958. After graduation he joined the United States Navy. He then married Helen Armstrong Waser and relocated to Hiawatha, Kansas where he was a self employed plumbing, heating and air conditioning contractor. They were later divorced. Three children were born to this union. In 1986 he married Sharon Pierce Waser. Upon retirement from their jobs they became Park Attendants for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Perry for nine years. Rod was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon of Hiawatha; his sons, Mark Waser of Topeka, Kansas and Dirk Waser and his wife Becky of Horton, Kansas; his daughter, Stephanie Prohaska and her husband Jim of Kansas City, Missouri; his stepson Lonny Pierce and his wife Lisa from Hiawatha, Kansas; his stepdaughter, Amy Mills from Beatrice, Nebraska; his sisters, Karen Elliott and her husband Leland of Manhattan, Kansas and Mary Ann Crome and her husband Kirk of Washington, Kansas and twelve grandchildren.

He was a member of the Ozawkie American Legion and a past member of the Hiawatha Elks and Hiawatha Masons.

Memorial services will be at the Christian Center, 519 North 1st St., Hiawatha, Kansas on Saturday October 4, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Tony French officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A special message may be sent to the family at www.dishon-maple-chaney.com
