Emma B. Newman, 94, of Topeka formerly of Holton passed away October 7, 2014 at Presbyterian Manor in Topeka. She was born March 14, 1920 in Savanna, IL the daughter of George and Phoebe (Coates) Thompson.

Emma married Glen Newman of Centralia, KS on April 18, 1942. He preceded her in death on September 3, 1988.

Emma lived most of her life in Topeka, moved to Holton in 1984, and then returned to Topeka in 2004. She volunteered and was involved in many organizations. She was past-member of 1^st Christian Church in Holton and had attended 1^st Christian Church in Topeka.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bill, James and Bruce; sister, Bernice, Phyllis and Georgia Mae and grandson, Douglas Newman.

Survivors include her son, John (Carol) Newman of Holton; her daughter, Suzanne (Gary) Oyler of Topeka; a brother, Jack (Pat) Thompson of Meriden; 4 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2014 at Holton Cemetery.
