Julia F. (Miller) Rogers, 84, of Holton, Kansas, passed away Monday, October 13, 2014, at Aldersgate Village in Topeka, Kansas. She was born on February 14, 1930, in Marysville, Kansas, the daughter of William and Clementine (Stoehr) Miller. She graduated from Marysville High School in 1949.

She was united in marriage to Glen W. Rogers on September 18, 1949, in Marysville, Kansas. Glen preceded her in death on June 27, 2013. Julia is survived by her son, James (Susan) Rogers of Manhattan, Kansas, her daughter, Terry (Jerry) Bueker of rural Holton, her three grandchildren, Jerri (Doug) Newman of Shawnee, Kansas, Kelli (Joshua) McClintock of Holton, and Jeffrey (Sarah) Draper also of Holton, her nine great-grandchildren, Savhannah, Madie, Deanna, Gracie, BrayIon, Jenna, Reese, Mackenna, and Joshua, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Robert Miller and Michael Miller, and her sister, Carol Singleton.

Julia was a farmwife in Washington, Kansas, before moving with her family to Holton in 1963 where she was a secretary for Glen in his business at State Farm Insurance for a couple of years. After that, she became a telephone operator for United Telephone Company in Holton. She then attended Clark's Business College in Topeka followed by a 20-year career at Blue Cross Blue Shield in Topeka, retiring in 1994. Following this, she became a switchboard operator for the Holton Community Hospital, first as a volunteer and then as a full-time employee. She completely retired in 2008 when kidney failure forced her to attend dialysis three days a week in Topeka.

Julia was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Holton, the Pilot Club of Holton, and the Order of the Eastern Star in Washington, Marysville, and Holton. In addition, Julia and her husband belonged to a local card club for many years.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 16, 2014, at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow at the Holton Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, October 15, 2014, from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
