Doris Marie Zeiner, 84, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at the Tri-County Manor in Horton, Kansas.

She was born on March 16, 1930 in Horton, Kansas the daughter of James and Dora Bechtold Gardiner. Doris graduated from Horton High School in 1948. After graduation she worked at the Horton Greenhouse. She then went to work at the Horton Duckwalls Store and retired after over 40 years of service. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Horton, Kansas. On May 2, 1949 she married Norman E. Zeiner in Horton, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 21, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a son, Steve Zeiner on November 20, 1997.

She is survived by two first cousins, Veda Knudson of Horton, Kansas and Twila Day of Cerritos, California and many distant relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Burial will be at the Horton Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the United Methodist Church or the Tri-County Manor and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
