Muretta L. Holt Sutherland, age 95, passed away October 27, 2014, at Providence Medical Center Kansas City, KS after a short illness.  She was born in Horton, KS September 29, 1919 to Ella and Fred Geer. She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church of Highland, KS.  She lived close to family in Basehor, KS, not far from her home of many years in Piper, KS.

She was preceded in death by husbands Richard J. Holt of Piper, KS and Orville J. Sutherland of Highland, KS.  Survivors include three daughter:  Mary Jo Van Fleet (Frank), Linda L. Carrell, and Robin Kurtz (Bob).  Six grandchildren:  Bill Van Fleet, Larry Van Fleet, Amy Walden, Chris Carrell, Sam Carrell and Matt Mirandy.  Six great grandchildren, Ashley Marah (Ken) Rachel Van Fleet, Megan Van Fleet, Tanner Walden, Garrett Walden and Stephan Gott.  Two great-great grandchildren, Abigail Marah and Cole Marah.

Funeral Services at 11 a.m. Friday October 31, 2014 at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Highland, KS.  Visitation 10:00 a.m., service at 11 a.m. burial at Highland Cemetery.  Friends may call the funeral home after 12 noon on Thursday.
