Alvin Fritch, 94, of Syracuse, NE, formerly of Pawnee City, NE passed away on November 15, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Home in Syracuse with his family at his side.  He was born on April 11, 1920 to Joe and Anna (Lang) Fritch in DuBois, NE.

Alvin grew up in the DuBois, Table Rock, and Pawnee City area.  After he was married,  they moved close to Des Moines, IA.  Within a short time, they returned to the Humboldt, Table Rock, and Pawnee City area until May of 2013.  At that time, they moved to Syracuse, NE to be closer to their family.

On September 14, 1940, Alvin and Laura Schultz were married in Falls City, NE.  To this union, a daughter, Prudy was born.

Alvin worked for several farmers, Lang’s Grocery Store and Wherry Brothers for several years.  Later, he and Laura purchased a restaurant in Table Rock, NE.  At the same time they owned the restaurant, he worked at the locker plant in Table Rock.  After selling the restaurant, he leased the locker plant in Table Rock for several years and then built his own in Pawnee City.  Later, he sold the locker plant and would go and help butcher at lockers in the surrounding area.

Alvin was a member of ZCBJ Lodge for over 50 years.

Alvin is survived by his daughter, Prudy, and husband Jon Gorton of Syracuse, NE; grandchildren, Denise Quimby of Lincoln, NE and Kirk Gorton and wife Corie of Syracuse, NE; great grandchildren, Ashley Quimby and Desiree’ Jordan of Lincoln, NE and Jake and Ty Gorton of Syracuse, NE; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Glenn of Wichita, KS; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Alvin was preceded in death by his wife, Laura; parents, Joe and Anna Fritch; in-laws, Emil and Mary Schultz; one sister, Elsie (Fritch) Hunzeker; several brother and sister in-laws.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Pawnee City, NE.  Officiating will be Reverend Duane Westing.  Visitation will be on Friday, November 21, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. with family greeting family and friends from 6-8 p.m. at Wherry Mortuary, 919 G Street, Pawnee City, NE.  Interment will be at the Czech Cemetery, Table Rock, NE.  Memorials go to family’s choice.
