Howard Dean Stutz, 80, Atchison, Kansas died Monday, December 1, 2014 at Hickory Pointe Nursing Home in Oskaloosa, Kansas.

Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, December 5th at 10:30 A.M. at St. Benedict Church with Abbot Barnabas Senecal, OSB as celebrant.  The body will be cremated following services and interred at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Nortonville, Kansas in a private family burial at a later date. A visitation with the family will be Thursday, December 4th from 5:30 until 7:30 P.M. at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Benedict School Endowment and may be left in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.arensbergpruett.com.

Howard was born February 17, 1934 in Atchison, the son of Reidel and Rachel Stutz.  He attended high school at Atchison county Community High School in Effingham, Kansas, graduating in 1952.

He and Ann Elizabeth Lueske were united in marriage on October 8, 1955 in Mercier, Kansas and recently honored their 59th Wedding Anniversary.  They lived in Effingham where children, Timothy Allen, Jean Anne and Dean Howard were born.  They eventually moved to Nortonville where son, John Joseph was born.

In addition to farming all his working life, Howard was also employed throughout the years at the LFM in Atchison, Effingham Cooperative in Effingham and Nortonville, Farmers Supply in Nortonville, Atchison County Coop in Atchison and Rockwell International in Atchison.  Howar was a member of the National Guard Service for many years and also belonged to the Knights of Columbus.

Howard is survived by his wife, Ann Elizabeth, Atchison; sister Margaret (Peg) Frederick, Topeka; brother, Max Stutz, Edinburg, Texas; children: Timothy Stutz, Effingham; Jean Anne Hampel, Wichita, Kansas; Dean (Tari) Stutz, Nortonville; John (Trina) Stutz, Shawnee, Kansas; 10 grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Reidel and Rachel Stutz and brother, Don Stutz.
