Eldon " Jim" Chambers

Eldon D. “Jim” Chambers, 88, of rural White Cloud died late Thursday evening, December 11, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family.

 

Jim was born December 3, 1926 the son of George and Estes Roberta Deshon-Chambers in St. Joseph, MO. He grew up and attended schools in St. Joseph.

He married Ruby Rhodd December 1, 1956 in Hiawatha, KS. She survives of the home.

Jim worked for Ryder-PIE Trucking Company for over 20 years before retiring. After retirement he worked in the maintenance dept for the Iowa Tribe Kansas-Nebraska before retiring after several years. He was a member of the Patee Park Baptist Church of St. Joseph, MO.

Other survivors include a daughter; Starr and Robert Evans of Eagle, NE, sons; Jim “Butch” and Pat Chambers of Warsaw, MO, Larry and Karen Chambers of Dallas, TX, Terry and Rhonda Chambers of Grand Saline, TX, a daughter; Jacklyn Chambers of St. Joseph, MO, a brother; Albert Chambers of Spring Hill, KS, a sister; Erma Lee Lewis of St. Joseph, MO, 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and his Westie dogs; Micki and Maddi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Curtis and E.C. “Buzz” Chambers, two sisters; Doris Collins and Eula Jean “Wid” Ellis, a grandson; Ned Gilpin, and granddaughter; Tonya Anderson.

Funeral Services are planned for 10 a.m., Monday, December 15, 2014 at the George Ogden Building, White Cloud, KS. Pastor Cliff Acree and Tony Curtis will officiate. Cremation will follow services. The family will receive friends after 4 p.m., Sunday, December 14, 2014 at the George Ogden Building where a Drum Service will be performed followed by a Wake Service.
