Bob Lee Spanier, 85, of Atchison KS died Tuesday, Dec. 30th, 2014 at the Midland Hospice House, Topeka, KS.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Monday, Jan. 5th, 2015 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. Nancy Kollhoff officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens, Atchison.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday, Jan. 4th, 2015 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Midland Hospice, Topeka or the Project Concern, Atchison and may be sent in care of the funeral home.  Condolences and memories to the family may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com.

Bob was born on Feb. 23rd, 1929 in Garden City, KS the son of Edward and             Spanier. He graduated from Copeland High School in 1947. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran.  He received his Bachelor of Business -Accounting Degree from the University of Kansas, Lawrence in 1956. Mr. Spanier was a Certified Public Accountant and owned and operated his CPA firm in Atchison for many years prior to retiring in 1999. Bob was a member of the United Methodist Church, Bellevue Country Club, the BPOE – Elks, and the American Legion Post # 6, Atchison, KS. He was a former chairman of the Atchison United Way Drive. Bob enjoyed golfing, coaching his girls in softball, and was an avid KU Sports fan and enjoyed all sports.

He was married to Fern Latham on April 29, 1956 in Hutchinson, Kansas.  She survives of the home, Atchison, KS.  Additional survivors include four daughters, Lea  (Richard) Steward, Atchison, KS, Sherri (Scott) Heald, LeCompton, KS., Bobbie Spanier, Topeka, KS., and Lana (Michael) Nicol, Topeka, KS. , a sister, Pamela McAllister, Nickerson, KS, seven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.  His parents and a sister Evelyn preceded him in death.
