Vickie Lynn Burk, 55, of Valley Falls, KS wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away on Monday, April 16, 2012 at the Midland Care Hospice House, Topeka, KS.

Memorial services will be 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 21st, 2012 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Nortonville, KS with Rev. Michael VanVelzer officiating.  Burial of cremated remains will follow in the Ozawkie Cemetery, Ozawkie, KS. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, April 20th, at St. Matthew’s Church, Nortonville, the Becker-Dyer-Stanton & O’Trimble Funeral Chapel, Nortonville is handling the arrangements. The family suggest memorial contributions be to the Midland Care Hospice and may be sent in care of the funeral home.  Condolences to the family may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com.

Vickie L. King was born on Oct. 11, 1956 in Winchester, KS the daughter of William and Oleta (Metzger) King.  She graduated from Jefferson County North High School in 1974. Mrs. Burk worked as a laborer for North Star Manufacturing for 4 years. She was the office manager for the Oskaloosa Independent Newspaper for over ten years. Vickie was the self proclaimed Mayor of Dunavant, KS and enjoyed her grandchildren.

She was married to Vernon Clifford Burk, Jr., on Sept. 14, 1974.They were divorced in 2003. Survivors include three sons; Russell (Crista) Burk, Topeka, KS., Brian Burk, Valley Falls, KS., and Jeffrey (Monica) Burk, Vail, CO., two brothers; Bill King, Valley Falls, KS and Lewis King, Boyle, KS., four  sisters; Marsha Weishaar, Nortonville, KS., Judy Keirns, Nortonville, KS., Darla Kramer, Carbondale, KS., and Leanne Schrick, Apex, North Carolina, five grandchildren and a special companion and friend, Cliff Schneider, Winchester, KS.  Her parents preceded her in death.
