Elvin Burl “Wooly” Woolston, age 89, of Harrison, AR was called home to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, May 22, 2015, at Branson, Missouri.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, May 29th, 2015 at the Becker Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, with Rev. Jim Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugar Creek Cemetery, Rushville, MO. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Disable American Veterans, VFW or the American Legion and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Elvin was born on August 15, 1925 in Rushville, Missouri the son of Earl and Mildred Eva (Hamilton) Woolston. He married Carol June Crow on June 20, 1954. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carol (Crow) Woolston; a daughter, Jennifer Lee Woolston, a daughter in law, Nei ci Sharp Woolston and 3 brothers, Marvin, Joe and baby Morris.

He got his nickname “Wooly” when he was playing high school football. He graduated high school at 16 and was a U.S. Army veteran serving during WW II in the Philippine Islands. Elvin returned to the states and opened a service station with his brother, Joe. Mr. Woolson worked for the Railway Mail sorting mail on the trains from Kansas City, Missouri to Memphis, Tenn. He later served as the Post Master in Alpena, Ark . He retired in 1986. Wooly was a member of the First Christian Church, Harrison and was a member of the choir. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion in Carrolton, AR and drove the DAV van from Harrison to Fayetteville for 12 years.

Wooly is survived by three sons, Kent (Rachel) Woolston, Indian Point, MO; Paul Woolston, Harrison, Ark, and Robert Woolston, Reed Springs, MO. His daughter, Annette Woolston, Harrison, Ark, his grandsons, Shawn (Trista) Woolston, Harrison, Ark, Rio & Dre’ Woolston, Indian Point, MO., Sharp (Moriah) Woolston, Fayetteville, Ark, and Jake Woolston, Harrison, Ark, Granddaughters, Jennifer Woolston, Marshfield, MO and Jade Woolston, St. Louis, MO, his great granddaughter Ribbon. A brother, Dean Woolston, New Bern, NC and his sister, Doris Ann Turnbull, Rushville, MO
