Charles Meisner

Charles H. Meisner, 99, of Sabetha, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Cobblestone Court in Sabetha. 

Charles was born July 16, 1916 in Sabetha, Kansas  the son of Herman and Helen (Maynard) Meisner.  He attended school in Oneida and graduated from Oneida High School in 1932.  After high school Charles farmed with his father northeast of Oneida.  In 1941 Charles was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in the European Theatre during World War II.  After the war he farmed with his brother, Kenneth on the family farm. 

Charles enjoyed hunting quail and pheasant and also gardened.  He retired from farming in 2000 and lived on the home place until December of 2008 when he moved to Cobblestone Court in Sabetha.

Those preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Bessie Meisner and Maxine Evans; two brothers, Kenneth Meisner and Harry Meisner. Survivors include his three nephews, Robert Evans and his wife Jane of Bern, KS, Tom Evans of Sabetha, KS, and David Evans of Sabetha, KS; one niece, Annette Pastory of Scottsdale, AZ; three grandnephews and six grandnieces. 

Funeral service is Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha.  Visitation is Friday, August 7, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will be in the Sabetha Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the Sabetha VFW Post #7285.  Memorial contributions may be left to the Sabetha Community Hospital or Nemaha County Home Health and Hospice, sent in care of the funeral home, 823 Virginia, Sabetha, KS 66534.  Online condolences can be left for the family at www.popkessmortuaries.com
