Dale A. Meyer

Dale A. Meyer, 65, of Wetmore passed away Monday, August 24, 2015 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City.

He was born December 9, 1949 in Holton, the son of Albert H. and Josephine M. (Spiker) Meyer.  He graduated from Wetmore High School in 1968 and then attended Cloud County Community College.  Dale proudly served his country with the Army National Guard for 6 years.  On October 12, 1974 he married Virginia M. (Ginger) Bloom in Wetmore. She survives of the home. 

Dale worked at Hills Pet Food in Topeka and retired after over 25 years.  He later worked for Crosswinds Pet Food in Sabetha and Hiawatha and retired again after many years.  He was a member of Wetmore American Legion Post 282 and the Knights of Columbus in Wetmore.

In addition to his wife, Dale is also survived by: his daughters, Christel Massey (Michael) of Lyndon, KS and Mindy Sudbeck (Curtis) of St. Benedict, KS; his brothers, Gary Meyer (Patricia) of Athens, OH, John Meyer (Sue) of Shawnee, KS and Larry Meyer (Valerie Jennings-Meyer) of Shawnee, KS; and his 5 grandchildren, Darian & Jalen Massey and Kanin, Adrian & Brynne Sudbeck.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mary Jane Durst.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 28, 2015 at St. James Catholic Church in Wetmore.  Interment will follow in Wetmore Cemetery.  The rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton with visitation to follow.  Memorials are suggested to the Axton Meyer Medical Expense Fund (Dale’s great-nephew) or American Legion Post 282 and may be left in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
