NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS-Robert Merlin “Bob” George, 74, of Nacogdoches, TX passed away Friday, September 4, 2015 in Nacogdoches. Bob was born in Grand Junction, Colorado. His family moved to Idaho when he was a small child. During his elementary and high school years, his family moved to Grantsville, Utah. After high school, Bob spent time working in Alaska to earn money to attend the University of Utah. In 1963, he enlisted in the Air Force. He served for eight years during the Viet Nam era. He was a B-52 simulator expert, being an electronics “geek” before it was cool.
Bob met his wife, Nancy (Lynch), while serving at Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka, Kansas. They married in 1966. Bob was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
After his military service, Bob worked for 34 years with Frito Lay in Topeka, Kansas, Louisville, Kentucky and the Dallas area. He worked as an engineer, building facilities manager, plant engineer and plant manager. He was very successful in his career. He mentored many people along the way. While in the military and while working with Frito Lay, Bob received many awards and commendations.
Bob was always very involved with his church. He was ordained as a deacon in 1978, serving on the deacon board of all the churches attended. But, above all else, Bob loved his wife and family greatly.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Nancy; his son Robert (Bobby)George and his wife, Ellen; his daughter, Carrie Davis and her husband Bobby; grandchildren Rob George, Caitlyn Davis and, Haylie Davis along with many nieces and nephews.
 Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Marjory George and his brother Dick George.

 Family will greet friends from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial with military honors will follow in the Wetmore Cemetery.
