Mary Simpson

Mary K. Simpson, 82, of Highland, died surrounded by family Tuesday evening, September 8, 2015, at Highland Healthcare Center where she had been a resident several years.
   
Mary was born January 15, 1933, at Sparks,  one of seven children born to Oscar and Hazel Mooney Simpson  and  had lived nearly all of her life in the Sparks/Highland area.  She attended school at Kansas School of the Deaf in Olathe for a short time before returning to Doniphan County to make her home. 

Mary was a Christian; she loved kids, animals, and liked to watch TV.  She loved to play the slot machines and the activities at the casino.

Survivors include a sister Hazel “Joan” Gaither of Highland; a brother Robert Simpson of St. Joseph, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters:  Helen Baxter, Wilma Laverentz, Maxine Caudle; and a brother Oscar Simpson, Jr.

Memorial services are planned for 11 a.m. Monday, September 14, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Highland, with Sam Blythe officiating.  Inurnment will follow at Iola Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends a half hour prior to services.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 1-5 Sunday.
