Adolf Oesmann

Adolph Carl Oestmann, son of Edwin and Clara (Stutheit) Oestmann was born August 18, 1933 at the family home in rural Johnson. He was one of nine children. Adolf was baptized and confirmed at Martin Luther Church by Rev. Fruehling. In 1952 he graduated from Tecumseh High School. 

Adolf and Connie (Eden) were married on November 23, 1956. To this union, three children were born. After being drafted by the US Army, Adolf was sent to basic training eleven days after their wedding and was then stationed in Germany where he earned the rank of Sgt. E-5-134INF. After arriving home, he and Connie made their home in Johnson, NE. They then moved to Tecumsehwhere Adolf managed the Johnson County Co-op for many years. He had various jobs after that which included Larry’s O.K. Tire, Wiebusch Implement, Kuhl Carriers and Brinkman Brothers. In 2008, Adolf retired. Adolf also served on the Martin Luther Church council and loved his church family. 

He was an outstanding gardener and always had an immaculate yard. Adolf enjoyed watching and listening to Nebraska Husker sports. Adolf was a proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather. It would always put a sparkle in his eyes and a smile on his face when they would come to visit. 

In February, 2013, Adolf’s health began to decline and he moved to Belle Terrace. On, September 12, 2015, surrounded by his loved ones, Adolf passed away. 

He is survived by his wife, Connie of 59 years, daughter, Debra Schultz and husband Steve of Tecumseh and Mark Oestmann and wife Penny of Syracuse, grandchildren, Ryan Schultz and Jenna Howard of Tecumseh, Sara Schultz of Tecumseh, Ashley Emerson and husband Nick of Syracuse and Cassandra Oestmann of Syracuse, great-grandchildren, Wyatt Emerson, Eliot Schultz and Aksel Stewart, brothers, Harlan Oestmann and wife Betty of Tecumseh, Ron Oestmann and wife Bev of Shenandoah, IA, sisters, Lois Othmer and husband Les of Tecumseh, Rosae Lee Crow and husband Bill of Marysville, KS, sisters-in-law, Ellen Oestmann of Tecumseh and Kay Oestmann of Johnson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Adolf was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Clara, infant daughter, Annette Sue, brothers, Lester Oestmann, Roy Oestmann and wife Edith and Larry Dean Oestmann, sister, Eileen Saathoff and husband Harold and many other relatives and friends. 

Funeral services will be held at the Martin Luther Church, rural Johnson, Nebraska at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 17, 2015 with Rev. Richard Reuman and Pastor Eric Biehl officiating. Visitation will be at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska, Wednesday, September 16, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service. Memorials may go to the family’s choice. Interment will be in the Martin Luther Cemetery, rural Johnson, Nebraska, with full military honors by the Nebraska Army Funeral Honor Guard and the Tecumseh VFW Post #8221.
