Melva Luella Bowie

Melva Luella Bowie, 88, of Crowley, TX, formerly of Holton and McLouth, KS, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Gentiva Hospice in Ft. Worth, TX. She was born April 4, 1927 in Valley Falls, KS the daughter of Cecil and Luella (White) Tosh.

Melva had lived in McLouth from 1955-1998, in Holton from 1998-2015 and had moved to Crowley, TX in February 2015 to be with her son.  On April 12, 1946 she married Earl Richard Bowie in Valley Falls.  She was a homemaker and also helped on the family dairy farm.

Melva is survived by: her husband Earl of Crowley, TX; her sons, Gary Bowie of Austin, TX, Kenneth Bowie and his wife Linda of Crowley, TX, Keith Bowie and his wife Debra of Jennings, KS and Dennis Bowie and his wife Penny of Lawrence, KS; her sisters, Barbara Goodrich and her husband Duane of Topeka, KS and Naomi Sue Manthe of Topeka, KS; her brothers, Loren Tosh and his wife Lois of Glendale, AZ, Harold Tosh and his wife Geneva of Holton, KS and Larry Joe Tosh and his wife Shelly of Westcliffe, CO; and her 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.  Melva was preceded in death by her brothers, Millard and Donald Tosh and one grandchild.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Valley Falls Cemetery. The family will greet friends Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to The American Cancer Society and may be left in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
