Harlan Meyer

Harlan William Meyer, 89, of Sabetha, passed away Friday, September, 25, 2015 at the Apostolic Christian Home. 

Harlan was born to William and Minnie (Marti) Meyer on November 17, 1925, at Bern, Kansas.  Harlan grew up on a farm near Bern and graduated from the Bern High School in 1943.  He was drafted into the Army in 1945 during WWII, and served in the Transportation Core in Europe until his honorable discharge in December 1946. Harlan married Florence Steiner on September 14, 1952. They shared in the partnership of Lehmann and Meyer Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, Electrical from 1953 to 2013.  Harlan served on the Sabetha City Commission, the Sabetha Hospital Board, the Medical Procurement Board, the Apostolic Christian Nursing Home and Retirement Village Board, and on the Board of Trustees of the Apostolic Christian Church of which he was a member. He loved his Lord, his family, his community.

Harlan was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael Meyer, his parents, two sisters, one brother, and three nephews.  He is survived by his wife, Florence Meyer of Sabetha, Kansas; one son, DeVere, of Overland Park, Kansas; three daughters, Libby (Keith) Leman of Crystal Lake, Illinios, Ramona (Edwin) Strahm and Christine (Jerry) Meeks, both of Sabetha, Kansas; twelve grandchildren, and two great-granddaughters.

Funeral service is Monday, September, 28, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church in Sabetha.  Visitation is Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha.  There will be a visitation on Monday morning from 9:00 to 9:45 at the church prior to the service. Interment will be in the Sabetha Cemetery.
