Virginia “Ginny” Lee, 62, of Hiawatha, died unexpectedly Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.

Ginny was born in Holton, February 23, 1953, one of three children born to the late Harvey and Marie Hornbeck Akright and had lived in the Doniphan-Brown County area nearly all of her life.  She attended Severance grade school starting as a third grader, later graduating from Midway High School, Denton, with the class of 1971.  Ginny continued her education by attending Missouri Western, Highland College and Atchison Vocational Technical, working to become a licensed practical nurse and respiratory therapist.  She spent most of her working life at Hiawatha Community Hospital, working for STARS.  Ginny was good at her job always had a smile and a genuine concern for all her patients.  In her spare time, she was an Avon representative and sold Silpada Jewelry.

Ginny attended the Bethany United Church of Christ of Hiawatha  and was a member of several professional organizations.  She enjoyed her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include a son Matt Aller (Ingrid) of Hiawatha; a daughter Taryn Orsborn (Aaron) of Tempe, Arizona; a brother Jim Akright and a sister MaryAnn Akright Olson, both of Severance; and three grandchildren:  Bradford, Nicholas, and Alexis.

A Celebration of Ginny’s life is planned for 1:30 p.m. Monday, October 5, at Bethany United Church of Christ in Hiawatha, with Pastor Shane Spangler officiating.  Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery, south of Troy.

Friends may call at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home after 10 a.m. Sunday, where the family will meet from 5 until 7 that evening.
