Steven James Erickson, 63, of Effingham, KS died Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at the Village Villa Nursing Home, Nortonville, KS.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 am until 12:00 noon on Sat. Oct. 17th, 2015 at the Becker Chapel, 402 3rd St., Effingham, KS.  The body will be cremated and private family inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials are suggested in memory of Steven to the RSVP Support Group, of Effingham or the Muscotah Support Group and both may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer Stanton Funeral Home who is handling the arrangements.  Condolences to the family may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com.

Steven was born on July 22, 1952 in Hiawatha Kansas the son of Willard and Carol “Joan” (Bearce) Erickson. He attended grade schools in Willis and Robinson, KS and graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1970. Mr. Erickson graduated from Highland College with an Associate’s Degree.  He worked as at several farms as a young man, the Bearce Farms, Robinson, the Gaul Farm, Highland and the Featherson Farms, Whiting, KS and for Gaskell Welding, Horton, KS.  He was a maintenance technician and boiler operator for the former Con Agra Foods, now Bunge since 1992. Mr. Erickson was a member of the Upper Wolf Lutheran Church and enjoyed gardening, and tinkering. Steven was a shy, quiet man with an infectious sense of humor once he got to know you.

He was married to Susan Pierce on July 16th, 1977 in Mountain View, MO.  She survives of the home. Additional survivors include a daughter, Kayla (Michael) Lang, Emporia, KS, and a sister, Carol (Larry) Beck, Topeka, KS.  His parents preceded him in death.
