Grace Jeschke

Grace Marie Loveall Jeschke was born at Versailles, Missouri, on August 14, 1928, to Henry Claude and Maria Cramer Loveall.  She passed away October 12, 2015, at the age of 87.

She graduated from Central High School in St. Joseph, Missouri, and attended St. Joseph Junior College.  She married Gerald Jeschke on March 11, 1947, in St. Joseph, Missouri, at the Seventeenth Street Community of Christ congregation. She and Gerald were engaged in farming all their lives. 

She worked for The Kansas State Historical Society for several years at its historic site near Highland, KS.  She was president of the Doniphan County Historical Society, and led tours through Doniphan County.  She served on the Doniphan County Library Board for several years and was appointed by the Governor of Kansas to serve on the Northeast Kansas Library System.  She was named a Quiet Hero for Doniphan County.  She was an Elder in the Community of Christ, and served as associate pastor.  She and Gerald were youth leaders in their earlier years and she served as women's leader.  Grace served as secretary for the Doniphan County Republican Party.  She enjoyed genealogy research.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Gerald, a son, David, a grandson Eric Jeschke, and her parents.

 

Surviving are her children, Jerry (Cheryl) of Robinson, KS, Susan (Steve) Calloway of Austin, TX, Becky (Brad) Gilmore of Bryan, TX, and daughter-in-law Connie Zeit of Bendena, KS, 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way. Also surviving is a sister Claudia Wilhelm of Spokane, Washington.

 

A Celebration of Grace’s life is planned for 10:30 Saturday morning, October 17 at the Community of Christ in Fanning, with Kathy Twombly and Steve Calloway officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery.

 

Friends may call at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Highland after 10 until 4 Friday afternoon. The family will meet with friends from 6 until 8 Friday evening at the Church.
